Office party next week. Dress code: "festive". What does that even mean??
It means one thing that shines. Not everything.
Take something you already love and add a little light. Earrings, a satin skirt, a velvet blazer.
So I don't need a sequin dress?
Only if you want one. You need to feel like yourself, on a good night ♡
Party season arrives with a strange pressure to become someone sparklier. You do not have to. The best party outfits are simply your everyday style with the light turned up a little.
Pick one thing that shines
A satin skirt, a velvet blazer, a metallic shoe, a pair of earrings that catch the light. Choose one and let everything else stay quiet. One shining piece looks chosen. Five look like a costume.
Start from what you already own
The little dark dress, the trousers that fit perfectly, the knit you always reach for. Dress them up with a different shoe, a bolder lip, hair done with a bit more care. New is not what makes an outfit festive. Intention is.
Know the room
An office party is still the office: keep hemlines and necklines where you would be happy to meet your manager at the coffee machine. A party with friends can take more color, more shine, more fun. When in doubt, a dress with a blazer over it works in both rooms.
Plan for the whole night
You will stand, sit, maybe dance, and definitely walk home in the cold. Shoes you can last in, a coat that looks good over the outfit, and a bag small enough to forget about. Comfort is what lets you stay until the good part.
Turn the light up a little. The rest is already you ☾
