I tried my friend's dress. Same size. On her it's magic. On me it's a tent.
Then it was cut for her lines, not yours ♡
So it's not my body?
It was never your body. It's two centimetres of seam.
Fitting rooms teach a quiet lie: if it doesn't look right, something is wrong with you. Nothing is wrong with you. The dress was drawn for someone else's lines.
Three places to look
Next time something almost works, check three spots before you blame the mirror. The waist: does the seam sit where you actually bend, or a little above or below? Two centimetres off changes everything under it. The shoulder: does the seam end where your shoulder ends? If it slides off or pinches in, the whole top follows. The hem: where does it stop on your leg? Move a hem a hand's width and the same legs look like different legs.
The size is not the cut
Size is how much fabric. Cut is where the fabric goes. You can be exactly a medium and still be wearing a medium drawn for other proportions. That is why two dresses in your size can feel like two different bodies.
Find one piece that just works
You own at least one thing that fits like it was waiting for you. Lay it flat and look at it: where the waist sits, how long it is, how the shoulder is shaped. That piece is a map. The next time you shop, hold the new thing against the map before you hold it against yourself.
Some cuts were made for you. We find them, and fill a mall of your own with nothing else. The doors open soon ♡
Stop asking what is wrong with you. Ask where the seams are ☾

Quick questions
Why does a dress in my size not fit?
Size measures the amount of fabric, not where the seams sit. If the waist, shoulder or hem lands away from your own lines, the dress looks wrong even in the right size.
How do I know which cuts suit me?
Start from one piece you own that fits perfectly and note where its waist, shoulder and hem sit. Look for the same lines in new pieces.
Is it my body or the clothes?
The clothes. A cut is drawn for a set of proportions, and yours are simply different from the pattern's.
